What's The Difference Between The Oils in my Soap Bars?
Center Street Soap Co. carefully selects plant based oils and butters, in varying proportions, to create each luxurious handcrafted soap loaf. (A soap loaf refers to the soap before it's sliced up into ready-to-use bars.)
Many of our bars use all or most of the oils listed below. Ingredients for each bar can be found on their product page with ingredients listed in order of predominance. That means the most used ingredients are listed first.
Let's talk about those oils! Every oil lends a different property to your bar of soap.
Olive OilOlive oil is moisturizing and creates a creamy lather. The workhorse of our oils. It's the primary oil used in most of our soaps including our best-selling Perfect Man soap. |
Coconut OilCoconut oil is cleansing and creates large bubbles. It's no surprise that this is the primary oil used in our True Grit gardener’s soap. The cleansing properties are a perfect fit here as this soap was created to clean greasy hands or hands that spent the day in the garden. |
Shea ButterShea butter is moisturizing and is easily absorbed into the skin. A little goes a long way and we have a dash in all our soap bars. A personal favorite? Our luxurious Apple Sage soap bar. |
Sustainable Palm OilSustainable palm oil helps create a hard, lasting bar. Palm oil usually takes the #2 spot in our soap bars ingredient list and helps them last. As seen in our popular Oatmeal, Milk & Honey soap. |
Castor OilCastor oil draws moisture to the skin and creates a beautiful lather. Usually last, but certainly not least we love a little castor oil in all our soap bars, especially our Spearmint & Eucalyptus Bar. |
Tamanu OilTamanu oil is a nutty oil rich in essential fatty acids that is popular for people struggling with skin irritation, blemishes, premature aging, wrinkles, infections, and inflammation. It is uniquely found in our Tea Tree & Charcoal Handmade Facial Cleansing Bar. |
